Mrs. Cartie Inez Cope Stewart, 96, McMinnville resident, was born Aug. 21, 1926, and passed away Jan. 27, 2023 at home after a brief illness. A member of New Union The Baptist Church for 81 years, she was the daughter of the late Eston and Venie Cope.
She married the love of her life, Paul Jennings Stewart on Oct. 20, 1945 who preceded her in death in 2012. She was also preceded in death by her two sons, Kenny Stewart and Danny Paul Stewart.
She was a retired beautician, an avid gardener and loved making quilts. She enjoyed cooking, canning and her flowers. She also loved spending time with her family and loved ones.

She is survived by two daughters, Betty Elaine Stewart (Bob) Alsup and Jennie Annette Stewart; daughter-in-law, Lynette Stewart of Chattanooga; six grandchildren, Paula (Terry) Wanamaker, Alison (Keith) Martin, Jennifer (Justin) Boyd of Cookeville, Kirby (Wes) Williams, Regan (Brent) Myers and Ramsey Stewart; twelve great grandchildren, Salem Wanamaker of Knoxville, Carter J. Wanamaker, Arden Cummins, Channing Cummins, Mylie Boyd and Lilla Boyd of Cookeville, Connor Williams, Kate Williams, Cartie Williams, Chip Williams, Willa Mae Myers and Vivie Myers; sister-in-law, Sophie Stewart, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30 at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Darrell Cantrell, Salem Wanamaker, and Bro. Keith Sims officiated. Interment followed at New Union The Baptist
Church Cemetery. The family received friends on Sunday from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. and again on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.
