Mr. Bob Cantrell, 83, of McMinnville died unexpectedly Monday, Aug. 6, at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga from a sudden illness.

He was born May 3, 1935, in Smithville, was a self-employed nurseryman and farmer, a veteran with the U.S. Air Force, and member of the Middle Tennessee Mule Skinners Association. Mr. Cantrell was preceded in death by parents James and Hazel Cantrell, sister JoAnn Cantrell Elder, brothers Glenn Cantrell and Jim Cantrell, and nephews Danny Cantrell and Brent Cantrell.

Survivors include his wife Juanita Ray Cantrell, children Lynn (Marla) Cantrell and Jeff Cantrell (Kelle Dyer), grandchildren Nick Cantrell and Kailyn Cantrell (Cody Simpson), sisters Jean Priest and Linda (Austin) Parton, and special cousin Larry Hallum. Other nieces, nephews, and many friends also survive.

Graveside service will be 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8 at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Lynn Cantrell and David Christian will officiate. Interment will follow. The Cantrell family will receive friends Wednesday from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Online condolences may be made at
