Billy Ray Cothren, 74, of McMinnville died Sunday, June 19, surrounded by his family. 

Mr. Cothren was born Sept. 10, 1947 in Madison County, Alabama to the late Ross and Flossie Cothren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son Michael Ray Cothren, and sisters Eveline Quick and Edith Cox.

Mr. Cothren retired from A.O. Smith after 39 years. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed camping and gardening. He was of the Christian faith.

Mr. Cothren leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Brenda Mayes Cothren of McMinnville, daughter Jenny Page (Jay) of McMinnville, son Royce Cothren of McMinnville, grandchildren Heather Jones (Daniel), Billy Wayne Cothren and Ryan Cothren (Kaylin), all of McMinnville, great-grandchildren Hudson Jones and Mallory Cothren, both of McMinnville, sister Joann Cox of Hazel Green, AL, a host of nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held Tuesday and again on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at High’s. Funeral service will be Wednesday, June 22, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of High Funeral Home with Bro. Daniel Smith and Bro. Carson Rust officiating. Burial will follow at Smyrna Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at www.highfuneralhome.com.
