McMinnville resident Billy J. Dixon, 81, died Wednesday, Oct. 16 at NHC Healthcare of McMinnville after an extended illness.
He was born in McMinnville on Jan. 1, 1932, a son of the late Lillie V. Hodges and James W. Dixon. He retired from the Chrysler Corporation where he worked for 33 years and attended the Church of Christ. He served his country in the U.S. Army as a sergeant in the Korean War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son James Aaron Dixon and brother Elbert H. Dixon.
He is survived by sons Joe C. Dixon of Louisville, Ky., Barry W. Dixon of English, Idaho, and David Dixon of Detroit, Mich., brothers Monroe E. Dixon of McMinnville, Bobby M. and wife Betty Dixon of McMinnville and caretaker Juanita Dixon of McMinnville. He is also survived by three grandchildren Eric Dixon, Christy Smith, and Shannon Shepard and nine great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Morrison with brother Robert Burns officiating. Military rites will be conducted by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
Gardens of Memory Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
