Billie Carol Ward, 80, of Spencer died Wednesday, Nov. 14 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.She was born in Spencer on Sept. 29, 1932, the daughter of the late Bransford and Elsie (Hale) Madewell.She is survived by her son, Jonathan Ward of Cookeville; daughter, Janna Boyd and husband John Mark of Spencer; four grandchildren, Benjamin Boyd, Simon Boyd, Miranda Boyd, and Jonah Boyd; sister, Delma Dishman and husband James of Spencer, brothers-in-law Donald Hillis of Spencer, Titus Ward and wife Lottie of McMinnville, sisters-in-law, Shirley Hitchcock and husband Don of Spencer, Mary Lee Brimer of Spencer; sisters -in-law, Virgie Ward, Grace Ward, and Jo Dean Ward, all of McMinnville, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.H. Ward; brother Brandsford Jr.; two sisters, Ida Hillis and Anna Mae Simmons; and three brothers-in-law, John Ward, James Ward, Bill Ward of McMinnville.Funeral service was held Saturday with Bill Van Hoozier and Titus Ward officiating.
