Betty Jean Wilcher Woods, 84, passed from this life Friday, Jan. 31, at NHC in McMinnville following a lingering illness.

She was born in the Shady Rest community of McMinnville on March 9, 1935. She was the oldest of eight children. She was the daughter of Howard and Hattie Ogle Wilcher, who preceded her in death. She was preceded in death by brothers, James Wilcher, Paul Wilcher, Rick Wilcher, and Daryl Wilcher and sister Joyce Whiteaker.

Betty was a member of the Baptist Church. She loved to travel, loved animals, and was a gifted seamstress. She was retired from Kmart in Fort Pierce, Fla. She was preceded in death by first husband and father of her four children, Alton Woods in 1981.

She is survived by daughter, Christy (Jerry) Barnes of McMinnville, three sons, Jeffery Woods and David Woods of Woodbury, and Matthew Woods of Port St. Lucie, Fla., four grandchildren and spouses, Jerremy (Rachel) Barnes of McMinnville, Amanda (Kevin) Turner of Morrison, Amber Lovelady of Gainesville, Fla., and Wayne Lovelady of Oklahoma City, Okla., four great-grandchildren, Zachery Barnes, Katie Barnes, Taylor Turner, all of McMinnville, and Brooklyn Turner of Morrison, two sisters Wanda (Bill) Ritchey of Vero Beach, Fla., and Debbie (Jim) Center of Palm Harbor, Fla.; ex-husband Ronnie L. Faulk of Fort Pierce, Fla. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

The family will have visitation Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020 from 2 to 4 p.m. at High’s Funeral Home in McMinnville. Burial will follow at a later date at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Fort Pierce, Fla. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Avalon Hospice of McMinnville. Online condolences may be made at www.highfuneralhome.com.
