Barry Craig Melton, 53
McMinnville resident and Rutherford County native Barry Craig Melton, 53, was born Dec. 17, 1970 and died March 7, 2024 at his residence following a sudden illness.
An employee of L & M Entertainment and member of the Church of Christ, he was the son of Barry and Gail Melton of McMinnville. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved music and playing his guitar, as well as gardening and cooking.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Charles David and Sylvia Argo Kelley and Robert and Thelma Melton and aunt, Nancy Jones.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by son, Justin Gage Melton (Addison Johnson) of McMinnville; brother, Chad Melton (Lisa DePiero) of Rock Island; nephews, Luke (Hollie) Melton of Manchester and Levi Melton of McMinnville; aunts and uncles, Pat (Toni) Kelley of Florida, Jennifer Huffaker of Arkansas, Buddy Kelley, David Kelley and Wade and Ann Melton all of McMinnville; great-aunt and uncle, Harold and Emma Hoover of McMinnville; several cousins; Justin's mother, Irene Swoveland of Cookeville; special loved ones, Daisy, Destiny and Jacob; loved ones and friends, Kimberly Habich, Brandon, Sasha, Briley and Braeden Phillips, Adam, Heather, Raelynn and Annalise Phillips, Rachel and Gracie Miller, Mike Huffaker, Sharon Kelley, Mike Jones, Josh and Peggy Melton, Tisha Smartt, Dallis Melton, Michael and Travis Melton, Joey Layne, Cap Kester, John Michael Panter and Christy Price.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 13 in High’s Chapel with Derrick Stiles to officiate. Interment will follow at Hebron Cemetery in Warren County. Visitation was Tuesday from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at High’s.
