Anne Duff Brady Hooper, youngest daughter of Bessie Duff Burbury Brady and Judge Robert Sharpe “Pete” Brady, was born Nov. 29, 1938, in McMinnville, and passed away on June 3, 2024, in Chattanooga.

She graduated in 1957 from Central High School, attended Christian College in Columbia, Mo., then Tennessee Polytechnic Institute (now Tennessee Tech University) in Cookeville. Anne also attended secretarial school in downtown Nashville.

Anne married Hartford Hooper, Jr., in 1960, and they raised two daughters, Anne and Jane. When the girls were young, Anne was a homemaker. Later, she worked as an administrative assistant at West Nashville UMC from 1979-1983 with Rev. John Collett, former Belmont UMC senior pastor. She also worked at St. John’s UMC. Following her years as an administrative assistant, she worked at Dillard’s in Green Hills until she joined Hartford in Ventura, Calif., in 1988.

A lifelong lover of music, Anne began playing the piano at an early age and continued playing throughout her life. She sang in church choirs for many years in California and at Belmont UMC. Anne loved to dance and was a member of a dance group in California that visited assisted living/nursing homes to entertain the residents. Upon returning to Tennessee in 2012, she could be found dancing three to four nights a week. Being a water-lover, Anne never missed an opportunity to go water skiing or swimming … or anywhere else for that matter! Her friends referred to her as "The Go Girl." Whether local or abroad, Anne enjoyed traveling, including trips to Ireland, various places in Europe with the Calif. church choir, Canada and Hawaii.

She will be remembered for her generosity, sense of humor, smile and friendly nature; but most of all, Anne will be remembered for how much she loved.

Anne is survived by her sister, Jane Sribney of Canada; daughters, Anne (Rick) and Jane; grandchildren, Maggie (Dennis), John (Lowavia) and Shelby; great-grandchildren, Shayna (Isaiah), Hannah, Skyler, Connor and Olivia; as well as great-great-granddaughters, Stephanie and Aurora; cousins, Hugh (Anne) Brady, Mary Grace (Jim) Pruitt, Nancy (Terry) Womack and John (Debi) Brady; great-nieces and great-nephews, and many friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday, June 29, at Belmont United Methodist Church (2007 Acklen Avenue, Nashville, TN 37212) from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., followed by the service at 1 p.m.

Memorial contributions can be made to Belmont United Methodist Church (Music Ministry), 2007 Acklen Avenue, Nashville, TN 37212.
