Alexander W. Massar, 96, of McMinnville died Sunday, Nov. 1 at his residence. He was born Sept. 14, 1919, in Gowanda, N.Y., and was a retired heavy equipment operator, and served his country as a medic in the U. S. Army during World War II. Mr. Massar was preceded in death by parents George and Angeline Falzarano Massar; daughter Sonya Spittler; sisters Caroline Paddock and Carmilla Stark; and brothers William Massar, Thomas Massar, Rev. Richard A. Massar, and Joseph Massar.Survivors include his wife, Betty Woodlee Massar; daughter Joy (Dan) Egan; son-in-law Tom Spittler; stepchildren Sharon (Bryan) Denton, Marty (Beth) Woodlee, Hardy Woodlee; grandchildren, David Egan, Shannon Yanck, Maddie and Aiden Egan, Luke and Shawn Woodlee, Samantha Ferrell, Erick Pendergraph and Kyle Wright; great-grandchildren, Steve and Ben Yanck, Chloe and Kaden Pendergraph, Kerra Ferrell, and Serenity Woodlee and brothers, D. W. Massar, and George (Jennie) Massar Jr. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Dan Egan will officiate.
