Albert Hugh “Hooty” Knight, 86, died Monday, Nov. 21, at his home with his family at his bedside.
He was born in Beersheba Springs on May 23, 1930 to Albert C. Knight and Bernice Miller Knight, who preceded him in death along with his sisters, Lucille Knight and Vernie Green, brothers Horace and Dennis Knight and grandson Chase McGee.
He was a member of Cumberland Baptist Church, Sewanee Lodge No. 405 F&AM, Scottish Rite Bodies of Nashville and the Almenah Shrine in Nashville. He had also served on Beersheba Springs Rescue Squad. He was retired from Century Electric in McMinnville.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Imogene Smartt Knight; daughters Melissa (Alton) Scruggs and Melody (Mike) Oliver; sons Estel (Darlene) Knight, Elton (Jimmie) Knight, Ricky Knight and Clinton (Lawanda) Knight; sisters Georgia (David) Nunley and Josephine Grimes; 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; a host of loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Layne Funeral Home chapel with minister Alton Scruggs officiating with burial to follow at Hunerwadel Cemetery.
