Dancing Through Time was the theme for Paula’s Dance Recital, where approximately 160 students were transported from one decade to another via an elaborate time machine. For two performances, the Warren County Middle School auditorium was packed with family and friends enjoying the talented dancers.
For the first time, the dancers were filmed around town presenting different scenarios of a girl lost in time. She made stops in each decade, and experienced different styles of dance and musical presentations at each visit.
“It was a very beautiful show and a big hit,” said instructor Paula Barnes. “We had lighting specialist Brian Madaris working on the light effects, along with Callie Hitchcock filming the videos.”
They filmed sets at Depot Bottom, Warren County Middle School, Elite Kennels, downtown and the airport, with different decades highlighted.
“It was a fun show for the students to perform, and for the audience to watch,” said Barnes. “I think the decade music was good, and it was music that everyone could enjoy.”
At each time machine stop, songs and dance were introduced to the audience, showcasing numbers such as “Ice Ice Baby,” “I Feel Pretty,” “Bugle Boy,” “Boogie Fever,” “Part of My World,” and “Bulletproof,” just to name a few of the 40 plus acts.
Barnes was pleased to announce they will be presenting “The Nutcracker” at the historic Park Theater Dec. 5-6 just in time for the holiday season.
