Kataen Shockley holds tickets for a Benefit Fashion Show to be held next Sunday, Nov. 12, at Warren County High School. Tickets are $25 and all money benefits the school systems FUEL program, which provides food to needy children on weekends and during breaks.

You can be fashionably generous next Sunday at Warren County High School.
Tiger Lily Boutique is holding a Benefit Fashion Show on Nov. 12 in the high school main lobby beginning at 2 p.m. Tickets are $25 and all money raised benefits the school system’s FUEL program.
“This is to raise awareness of the program and to raise money for it,” said Katelyn Wortman of Tiger Lily Boutique. “There’s a real need for this in Warren County. A lot of people think the hunger issue is somewhere else, or confined to bigger cities, but it’s right here in Warren County and we’re asking people in our community for their support.”
The FUEL program identifies students in our school system who struggle for food when they’re not in school. Once those students are determined, they are sent home with extra food on weekends and extended holiday breaks.
Officials at some schools say they have students who rarely eat when they’re not at school. They can eat breakfast and lunch during the school year when classes are in session, but they often go hungry on weekends. Wortman says money raised will go into a general FUEL fund with hopes of spreading the money throughout schools in the county.
The event will be catered by students in the WCHS culinary program. On the menu will be hors d’oeuvres and elegant desserts.
As for the fashion show itself, models have already been selected to display new arrivals in fall and winter fashions. Also helping to coordinate efforts is Miss McMinnville Outstanding Teen Kataen Shockley, who has made fighting hunger and the FUEL program her pageant platform. She’s scheduled to participate in the Tennessee Outstanding Teen Pageant to be held in Jackson in March.
Benefit Fashion Show tickets can be purchased from Tiger Lily Boutique, Penny Shockley or Wesley Cook. Only a limited number of tickets are available.
