Sidewalk sale to benefit Senior Center
Senior Center Thrift Shop volunteer Barbara Holmberg and other volunteers have the mountainous task of sorting donated items brought to the center. On Saturday, May 14 from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. folks can enjoy a Sidewalk Sale at the center, with proceeds benefiting the center.

McMinnville Warren County Senior Center’s Thrift Store is holding a fundraiser Sidewalk Sale on May 14 from 7 a.m. -1 p.m. at the store at 809 Morrison Street.
An abundance of clothing items for the entire family will be available, as well as household items such as dishes, utensils, bedding and more. A small air conditioner unit, as well as decorator items will be for sale.
“We appreciate all of our donations,” said volunteer Barbara Holmberg. “We have a lot of stuff here for sale, and we are constantly going through it and making it ready for display. If anyone has some extra household items like dishes, we could use them.”
According to Senior Center director Connie Smith, money raised from the sale will continue to go towards paying for the heating and air conditioner unit and tile flooring at the center.
“We have generated thousands toward both projects, but we still need more to meet our goal,” said Smith.
The Thrift Shop is located next door to the center, and is run by Holmberg, Margaret Carter and Helen McCormick. Their jobs are never-ending, with the task of taking donations, sorting and getting them on the rack tremendous.
Holmberg has been volunteering with the center for seven years, and says at 80 years of age, she would like to see others step up and offer their services.
“We are always looking for volunteers,” said Holmberg. “I do enjoy working here and helping out. I feel like it helps me forget my aches and pains.”
Donations are accepted Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. The Senior Center number is 931-473-6559.
