McMinnville Lions Club has announced its drug essay winners. Pictured, from left, are club president Louise Burton-Buck, first-place winner Katie Marissa Pack, second-place finisher Haylee Hutchins, and Lions Club member Barbara Scott. Not pictured is third-place finisher Jacquelyn Frankman.
Covenant Academy eighth-grader Katie Marissa Pack says our days are consumed with choices. When these choices include drug use, Pack says, the impact is far-reaching.“The choice to use drugs is the choice of the individual and puts him or her on a disastrous path,” wrote Pack. “Once the choice is made, it affects the entire family and the family suffers as well.”Pack’s entry emerged as the best from a field of around 200 essays and she has been named the winner of the annual Lions Club Drug Essay Contest.
