Donnie Bouldin was one of many local residents who capitalized on free health screenings to get his vision checked last Saturday at the McMinnville Community Health Fair.Bouldin used the vision screener at the Lions Club booth in an effort to detect any problems with his peripheral vision and depth perception.“They bought me these glasses a year ago,” said Bouldin referring to the Lions Club. “They have really been a big help.”The health fair, organized by Isha Care and held at Three Star Mall, featured over 35 exhibitors and health professionals, including many physician specialists.Lions Club representative Susie Davenport said the organization conducted vision screenings on a half million people in Tennessee last year, including thousands of children entering kindergarten.“If you can catch an eye problem in a child under 6 years old, perhaps you can prevent a serious problem from developing,” said Davenport. “We can do some miraculous things if we catch it early enough.
