Jones couple celebrates 50th anniversary
Lena and Burton Jones were honored with a 50th wedding anniversary reception recently at Dibrell Memorial Museum. The couple wed Oct. 8, 1965.

Burton and Lena Adcock Jones gathered with family and friends to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary at Dibrell Memorial Museum. The couple married at her parent’s home on Oct. 8, 1965.
The afternoon reception was given by the couple’s children Danny Jones, Teddy Jones, April Winton and their spouses. Colors of gold enhanced the museum, as well as some purple and gold, representing the couple’s alma mater, Dibrell School. They were childhood sweethearts, and were in the same class at the school.
A chocolate cake with gold icing was the centerpiece. The top layer held a 50th anniversary emblem, with the middle columns featuring their original wedding cake topper.
The couple chose to wear gold shirts, with family members dressing in assorted fall colors. Her wedding dress, shoes and veil were displayed, along with his Dibrell basketball jacket and satchel. They are grandparents to eight, and have two great-grandchildren. About 100 family members and guests attended.
Mr. Jones is a retired nurseryman and farmer, and she is a homemaker. They both operate a home canning business together and work at this as a hobby.
