Deanne Kaye Michaels and Michael Rayburn Jacobs were surprised by their family with a golden wedding anniversary celebration Sept. 28.
The couple wed Sept. 28, 1963 in Lafayette, and was honored at a reception held at Barren Fork Baptist Church. It was held by granddaughters Caitlyn Mooneyham and Kyrsten Johnson.
The honorees were dressed in casual attire, with Mrs. Jacobs wearing a yellow rose and ivy corsage. Mr. Jacobs was honored with a yellow rose boutonniere.
Vintage glassware and decorations in gold, white and plum graced the fellowship hall. A display wall showcased a timeline of photos of the couple’s life together.
A white confection was topped with a 50th wedding anniversary topper that was previously used by the groom’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.C. Jacobs.
Caitlyn Mooneyham, Kyrsten Johnson and Linda Jarrell served the 40 guests attending the celebration.
The honorees are parents to a son, Shane and wife Shonda Jacobs, and have four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Jacobs was employed as an engineer with state of Tennessee, and she is a retired bus driver. They enjoy gardening, helping others and family time.
