A Genealogy Workshop will be presented by Pat Berges on Feb. 21 at 2 p.m. An additional session on ancestry DNA will be presented by Coffee County residents Ray and Lori Amos. The meeting will be held in the Magnolia Room of the Warren County Administrative Building located at 201 Locust Street.
Topics of discussion include getting started in genealogy, where to find it, computer genealogy, what to do with all that paper, seeing life as your forebearers saw it, and finding your Civil War ancestor.
Helpful literature will be available, with members of the Warren County Genealogical Association available to assist researchers. Light refreshments will be served during the meeting.
Berges has been involved with genealogy for more than 30 years, and has served as an officer and on the board of directors for the Coffee County Historical Society, Grundy County Historical Society and Warren County Genealogical Association. She is currently publications editor for Coffee County’s Historical Society.
Attendees should bring paper and pen, and any material they have already found on their ancestors, as this will be a working seminar of approximately two hours. Pre-registration is advised on or before Feb. 20.
For more information, or to register by phone, call Monty Wanamaker or Chris Keathley at 931-507-8102, or register by e-mail with Berges at eljefe@charter.net.
