Crocheting rag rugs is a passion for 98-year-old Fran Arnold. She has been making them for many years and selling them at her Country Road Crafts business, as well as also selling them at Rustic Touch in Rock Island. This year her family entered her creations in the Warren County A&L Fair, taking first place in Heritage Crafts and the senior citizen division.
Arnold was born Nov. 11, 1917, and married Wesley Arnold. The couple had two children, and moved to the Fayetteville area from San Francisco Bay, Calif. in 1983.
To supplement the family income, Fran and family members began crafting various items. Along with operating their craft store, they traveled to many craft fairs throughout Tennessee over a 20-year span.
