Flamingos flock to assist fight

The flamingos are flying again, thanks to Relay for Life Team Tiger. The group is planning the fun activity to start today and run through May 23 in an effort to raise funds for their team.
Team Tiger members and Irving College Elementary students Caylie and Wesley Sherrell are experienceing the impact cancer has on families, as their grandmother Jeanette Deason is currently undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer.
Upon request, a few flamingos will be placed in someone’s yard, and for a donation of $10 they will be picked up. Add an additional $5 and the group will place them in another friend’s yard. A donation of $20 will involve removal of flamingos, migration to another yard, and a guarantee of no more flockings!
Organizer Carrie Sherrell feels the activity will be positively accepted and raise funds for the cancer research activity. “We do understand not everyone is in the posiiton to donate, and the removal of the flamingos can be taken at no charge,” said Sherrell. “Just please don’t hurt our pink feathered friends.”
For flamingo flock requests, contact Sherrell at 205-3805, Sherri Smith at 808-2520 or Martha Kirby at 668-4466.
