Caden Welch was all dressed up for Saturday night’s Mom & Me Dance at Westwood Church of Christ.
The 8-year-old was sporting a red tie and black vest which was a catchy complement to mom Samantha Welch who was dressed in red.
So where did Caden get his outfit?
“EBay,” he said with enthusiasm.
It was a night of socializing and dancing that included the Cha-Cha Slide as “Mr. Electricity” John Chisam kept things lively from the DJ booth.
There was plenty of spinning as little Maggie Jo Walters got twirled around on the dance floor by mom Sarah Walters.
In the dining area, Tucker Lewandowski found himself upside down thanks to mom Alicia Lawson.
There were 85 tickets sold with organizers saying some moms came with more than one child. Unlike many of the father-daughter date nights, the Mom & Me Dance allowed mothers to bring either a son or daughter, or both.
Rachel Cope can claim the trooper award for not only attending, but getting out on the dance floor with a cast on her left foot. Her mom, Maegan Garrett, explained Rachel hurt it while on the playground but said it hasn’t kept her down.
The meal was catered by Prater’s BBQ and the event also served as a fundraiser in addition to being a night of fun.
“We’d like the proceeds to go to postpartum care baskets for moms,” said Grace Sparkman, a member of Warren County Youth Leadership, which organized the event. “When a baby is born, so much is bought for the baby, but mom needs to get something too. We’d like to make care baskets with skin care products, a water bottle, things like that.”
Sponsorships and donations helped to make the night possible. Youth Leadership member Chalee Womack made a presentation before Westwood Church of Christ leadership to get use of the gym donated for free.
