Students looking to take a dip in Gilley Pool before the start of the new school year got the chance to make a big splash Sunday night.Young Men United held a Back to School Bash where the organization offered free admission to the pool, along with free food and free school supplies. The combination resulted in an overwhelming turnout with some people having to be turned away because the pool didn’t have enough lifeguards for the after-hours event.“We’re real happy with the turnout,” said Young Men United member Charlie Boyd. “All the kids seemed to be having a good time and that’s why we did this, for the kids.”The one kink of the first-year event came when pool officials had to limit the number of people swimming in the pool to 200 because not enough lifeguards were on hand.
