Heritage Alliance is inviting all World War II veterans and their families to participate in a tribute celebration to be held at Regions Bank on Dec. 7 at 1 p.m.
“There will be a video tribute and reception,” said Heritage Alliance president and McMinnville Mayor Jimmy Haley.
Bruce Atnip has been filming the video tribute for veterans and will be on hand to take a group picture.
Haley has made this year’s parade theme “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” to remember Pearl Harbor, which occurred on Dec. 7, 1941. Grand marshals for the parade will be World War II veterans.
Haley says those WWII veterans in attendance at the ceremony will be transported to McMinnville Civic Center to be included in the parade.
“Vets, as able, will then be transported to the front of the parade to serve as grand marshals,” said Haley.
The parade begins at 2:30 p.m., with WWII veterans taking the lead. The procession will travel the length of Main Street and end at the intersection of Main and Colville streets.
Immediately following the parade, a lighting ceremony for the city’s Christmas tree will be held at The Lot. The public is invited to attend.
For more information, or to be included as a grand marshal without attending the event at Regions Bank, call Haley at 224-8521.
