A woman accused of slamming a knife into a bedroom door while threatening to kill her son and his girlfriend inside has been given probation.
The woman, Tamara Mashele Frazier, 40, was given an 11-month, 29-day probationary sentence by General Sessions Judge Bill Locke. She was ordered to attend conflict management and must remain on her prescribed medication during the duration of her probation.
She entered guilty pleas to the charge of domestic assault while the charge of felony assault was dropped as a result of her plea agreement. She will be allowed a judicial diversion, meaning her record will be erased, as long as she gets into no further trouble while on probation.
She was charged after lawmen arrived at a residence and found an enraged Frazier in a heated argument with her son and his girlfriend. The officer reported having to hold Frazier back when she tried to go after the pair while he was there.
Upon taking her into custody, officers learned Frazier had gotten mad over her car keys and cellphone and that her son and his girlfriend had retreated into a bedroom and locked the door.
“Ms. Frazier obtained a steak knife and struck the bedroom door several times threatening to kill her son and his girlfriend,” the warrant reads against Frazier. “Her son opened the door to find his mother with the knife in hand and took it away from her at that time.”
