Now that City Cafe has been demolished and the rubble removed, attention has shifted to the two Main Street buildings that were next to it.Demolition of City Cafe took place Wednesday and Thursday with about 70 dumptruck loads of debris removed from the site, according to heavy equipment operator Fred Hall. By Thursday afternoon, the corner lot was empty and the spectators who had lined Main Street for days had dissipated. The plan for the City Cafe lot is to add a layer of gravel today. That property will remain in a holding pattern of sorts until it’s determined what to do with the buildings still standing next to it.McMinnville codes official Josh Baker says he expects a decision to be made early next week.“From a codes standpoint, this is a matter of public safety,” said Baker.
