The odds were too long for local drug trafficker Jimmy Tyrone Wilkerson to risk another trial, prompting him to accept a 20-year sentence as part of a plea bargain with prosecutors.Wilkerson, 41, entered a guilty plea before Circuit Court Judge Bart Stanley to the charge of sale of a cocaine and was ordered to serve 20 years in prison. He will report to jail today and will face serving at least 35 percent of the term behind bars since he is a Range II offender. While taking the 20 years, the alternative could have been much worse as Wilkerson was looking at the possibility of over 40 years in prison – a veritable life sentence – had he been convicted on the charge.
