It wasn't the way the WCMS Pioneer football team wanted to start the season.
Playing at home under first-year head coach Adam Wood, the Pioneers were shut out by visiting Sequatchie County during a 14-0 loss Tuesday night.
Sequatchie County scored a TD on its opening possession, then followed that score by recovering an onside kick. Sequatchie County didn't score on the possession, but managed to control the ball for nearly the entire first half.
It didn't get better in the second half. Sequatchie County scored on its first possession to take a commanding 14-0 lead and never allowed WCMS to get in the game.
