When class of 2014 members walk through the commencement line next year, they will be the first to graduate under a new honors system which rewards excellence in education.The new graduation honors system will offer four degrees of achievement including Graduate with Merit, Graduate with Honors, Graduate with Distinction, and Graduate with Highest Distinction.The graduation recognition is a way to reward students who go above and beyond during high school. According to Director of Schools Bobby Cox, it is a local recognition which goes beyond state requirements. The recognition will not only be announced at commencement ceremonies but it will also be placed in the graduate’s educational record.
