If you want to be the next Warren County High School football coach, you better act fast.
The school system is now accepting applications with the deadline set for this Friday. The interview process will begin next week, according to Warren County athletic director Todd Willmore.
The position was posted Monday morning and by Monday afternoon human resources director Roy Pierce said five people had already applied.
“So far we have one local applicant and four from all over the place,” said Pierce. “I expect we’ll get 15 to 20 applicants, which is the same as we usually get when we post a head coaching position.”
In perusing the applications, Pierce said all five have high school coaching experience and a couple have experience as a head coach. He said one applicant has college and high school experience.
Willmore said plans are to have a new football coach in place prior to Christmas break, which starts Dec. 19.
The coaching search comes after Scott Smith announced last week he is leaving Warren County to take the head coaching position in Franklin County. Smith led the Pioneers to a 4-6 record in his one year at WCHS.
All interested applicants can apply online at www.warrenschools.com or contact Pierce with any questions at 668-4022 ext. 226 with any questions.
