Brett Patterson said his dream was to one day play in the U.S. Open. Next weekend, the 19-year-old will have accomplished his dream.Patterson qualified for the 111th playing of the U.S. Open at Congressional Country Club in Washington D.C. by tying for the win in a 36-hole qualifier held in Ball Ground, Ga.Patterson fired a course-record 62 in his second 18 holes at Hawks Ridge Golf Club, which followed a 70 in the first 18 holes.Patterson’s 132 total tied him for the lead with Ryan Nelson of Dickinson, Texas, and was enough to earn a spot in the U.S. Open. Patterson and Nelson earned two of three spots available to the field of 47 players at Hawks Ridge Golf Club.Following the qualifier, Patterson was at a loss to explain how it felt to achieve a life-long dream.“It’s truly hard to describe,” said Patterson.
