Walmart to hold Pioneer pep rally

Warren County residents will get a chance to show their Pioneer pride Thursday night when Walmart holds a pep rally for the Warren County High School football team.The event, which is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., will be held in the back parking lot at Walmart and will give fans a chance to meet the Pioneers.The first 500 fans in attendance will receive hot dogs, chips and a drink as Walmart and other local supporters have come together to sponsor the event.Rickie Hodge, a manager at Walmart, helped set up the event and invites the community to attend the pep rally as the Pioneers prepare to kickoff the season Friday, Aug. 17 in DeKalb County. “We enjoy the opportunity to help out and bring community support,” said Hodge. “Since I’ve been here, we’ve done a lot with the elementary schools, but this is the first time we’ve partnered with the high school sports teams.“With the help of our vendors and the booster club, we’re hoping to make this a great event.”The band, cheerleaders and dance teams are also scheduled to appear at the pep rally and Warren County coach Tommy Johnson will introduce the team.Coach Johnson is also excited to have the showcase for the Pioneers and hopes the fans show up in full force to support his squad.“Hopefully, we have a great turnout to support the team,” said Johnson.
