There have been some changes in this year’s Viola Valley Homecoming. The annual tractor pull will not be on the same weekend as the day-long activities.
According Debbie Smartt, who is one of the event organizers, the day-long activities of Viola Valley Homecoming will be offered Aug. 8 and its Rumble in the Valley Truck & Tractor Pull will be offered Aug. 22.
“Hillsboro Homecoming moved its date to our weekend so we had to move our tractor pull,” said Smartt. “I guess there is some good and some bad in that, but that is how it happened. We need to change up our event to keep it new and get more people involved.”
On Aug. 8, the Viola Valley Homecoming parade will begin at 10 a.m.
As soon as the parade ends, there will be a vintage car display, old gas engine display, a general store which will be located in the church building this year, a modular train club from Nashville will have a display, and there will be an antique button display.
Also during the day, there will be children’s games, a petting zoo and concessions available.
The entertainment lineup:
11 a.m. – Pioneerettes will perform, and there will be a sheepherding demonstration in front of the grandstand.
11:30 – River Chase Posse will stage a bank robbery with a children’s gun safety course incorporated
1 p.m. – Macey Tabor performance
2 p.m. – Elvis impersonator
3 p.m. – Homemade ice cream contest begins
4 p.m. – Karaoke contest
8:30 p.m. – On the Road Again Show begins
The tractor pull, sanctioned by the Middle Tennessee Pullers Association, will be offered Aug. 22. It begins at 7 p.m.
There will be a lawnmower pull at noon that day. More details will be available later.
