It’s about to get loud in Viola as the second half of Viola Valley Homecoming roars into town this Saturday, Aug. 22.
Rumble in the Valley Truck and Tractor Pull kicks off at 7 p.m. Adult tickets are $10. Admission for children 6-12 years old is $5, while children 5 and under are admitted free. Tickets are available at the gate only.
Before the big boys roll in Saturday night, Belvidere Valley Lawn & Garden Pullers Association will kick off the day’s activities at noon. The event was originally scheduled from 2-6 p.m. However, the time has been changed and the event begins at noon.
The tractor pull is endorsed by the Middle Tennessee Tractor Pullers Association. Sanctioned classes include 4,000-pound mini truck, 5,500-pound super stock truck, 6,200-pound pro stock truck, 8,500-pound diesel truck, 6,200-pound LLSS tractors, and 11,000-pound hot farm.
Unsanctioned classes, with trophies awarded for first place in each class, include single-wheel 8,000 pound and under farm stock, single-wheel 8,001 pound and over farm stock, dual-wheel tractor, front wheel assist tractor, street truck gas, and street truck diesel.
Mower classes: light stock modified with kids 0-8 years, twin, 750cc, and heavy outlaw; heavy stock modified with kids 9-14 years, pro outlaw, light outlaw, and big motor small tire; 1,850-pound small tire V8 mini rod; 1,950-pound big tire V8 mini rod; and 2,050-pound big tire V8 mini rod.
This year’s Viola Valley Homecoming Rumble in the Valley Truck and Tractor Pull suffered traction problems even before hitting the dirt. Middle Tennessee Tractor Pullers Association was drawn into a different community so the tractor pull was not held the same weekend as the day-long event Aug. 8.
“Hillsboro Home-coming moved its date to our weekend so we had to move our tractor pull,” said Debbie Smartt, who is one of the event organizers.
