A dedication ceremony will be held Saturday at 11:30 a.m. for the two Civil War Trail markers that were placed about a month ago.“The ceremony will be held at the marker by the courthouse,” said Heritage Alliance president Jimmy Haley. The marker “Raiders’ Target” pertains to the occupation of McMinnville and the engagement of Rebel Hill and was placed at Warren County Middle School, while “Lion of Ben Lomond” pertains to Gen. Benjamin Jefferson Hill (1825-1880) and was placed at Court Square next to the Warren County Courthouse. For Raiders’ Target, McMinnville experienced two years of Federal occupation beginning in the summer of 1863 during the Civil War. Confederate Gen. Joseph Wheeler briefly ended Union control in October, when he led three divisions in a raid north of Chattanooga to cut the Federal supply lines to the city.
