Two women were killed Tuesday evening in a head-on collision on Shellsford Road.The victims were identified by state trooper Bruce Pryor as Carol Boyd, 52, and Patty Grissom, 49.The accident took place around 5:30 p.m. on a curvy stretch of Shellsford Road. Trooper Pryor said Boyd was driving south, toward Highway 108, in a 2008 Crysler Seabring when the crash took place.Her vehicle was hit by a 2001 Chevy Blazer driven by Grissom. Pryor said it was Grissom who failed to maintain control of her vehicle as she was coming out of a curve and crossed the center line.The vehicles struck nearly head-on with the brunt of the impact being absorbed by the driver’s side.
