A truck driver was injured Friday morning when his tractor trailer crashed on Manchester Highway. The driver, James C. Curtis, 71, of Estill Springs was transported from the scene by the Warren County Emergency Ambulance Service and treated at River Park Hospital for non-lifethreatening injuries sustained in the one-vehicle wreck.According to Highway Patrol Sgt. Billy Prater, the accident happened at 11:20 a.m. in front of Beacon Federal across the highway from Gardens of Memory Cemetery. A preliminary investigation reveals Curtis was heading westbound, away from McMinnville, aboard his Evans Lumber Company tractor trailer. At some point, witnesses say the truck strayed from the westbound lane of travel, ended up on the grassy ditchline for several yards, mowed down a pair of road signs, and slammed into a concrete abutment. The truck came to rest in the ditch, suffering heavy front-end damage from its impact with the concrete abutment.Sgt. Prater noted Curtis was heading back to the lumber yard in Manchester at the time of the crash and was hauling an unloaded trailer.
