Trooper says alcohol involved in crash

Alcohol and excessive speed are being blamed for a Wednesday afternoon crash that left no survivors, claiming the lives of three men on Goodbar Road.The victims were identified by the Tennessee Highway Patrol as driver Roy Rogers, 56, front-seat passenger Danny Rogers, 54, and back-seat passenger George M. Dodson Jr., 57. They were killed in the early afternoon crash which happened on Goodbar Road about a mile from its intersection with Sparta Highway near Rock Island.According to highway patrolman Ronnie Simmons, the wreck happened around 12:45 p.m. when Rogers lost control of his 1999 Cadillac Deville as he was traveling southbound, away from Sparta Highway, navigating a curve.The car crossed the two-lane rural road and plowed into a ditch where it then slammed into a utility pole before rolling over several times. It was during the rollover Dodson was thrown from the back seat.
