Thirsting for water in Africa

Uganda resident John Wamono was blinded at age 10 by what was intended to be a charitable action — he was given an overdose of tapeworm medicine. A lesser individual might have lived a life filled with anger and resentment, but Wamono went on to get a good education, raise and educate seven children, and devote his life to charity. While accomplishing all this, Wamono didn’t forget his small village, Busiu, located outside Mbale, Uganda. In order to help his own people and other Ugandans, Wamono also went on to co-found His Grace Is Sufficient Ministries, a nonprofit Christian organization dedicated to helping those in need in Uganda.Wamono was the guest at a recent McMinnville Noon Rotary Club meeting and thanked local Rotarians for their financial support in digging a new well in Busiu last year.
