Third-graders get look at farm animals

Local third-graders got a chance to bottle feed a calf, hold 1-day-old chicks, and see a blacksmith at work yesterday at the fairgrounds.Farm Bureau held its annual Farm Day with third-graders from every school in the county invited. David King provided one of the highlights with his old-fashioned chuckwagon. It gave students a glimpse into the past when people prepared food over a fire.The blacksmith shop was operational with students getting to see wrought iron heated over a fire until it turned glowing red.
