Amid the controversy surrounding the county’s lawsuit against itself, questions having been asked following Register of Deeds Terry Smith’s recent hiring of his daughter-in-law, Lisa Roberts Smith, to work in his office. She began work Aug. 20.Lisa was married to Smith’s son, Cory Alan Smith, who passed away on Jan. 5, 2007.Lisa Roberts Smith took the place of one of Terry Smith’s longtime employees, who left to go down the hall to work in Trustee Darlene Bryant’s office.According to Terry, he talked to county attorney Larry Stanley before offering Lisa the job. “I didn’t want any nepotism.
