A local teen will be middle aged when he tastes freedom again after he was given 25 years for raping a child.The teen, Matthew L. Thomas, 19, entered a no-contest plea before Circuit Court Judge Bart Stanley to the charge of rape of a child. He was ordered to serve 25 years in prison at 100 percent, meaning he will not be allowed to get out early on parole. Once Thomas does get out, at the age of 44, he will be required to be on community supervision for the rest of his life and will also have to register himself with the state sex offender registry.His sentence comes after he took a 10-year-old girl into a wooded location near his house on Occee Drive and had sex with her.
