The 16-year old who was stuck by a car last Friday night as he was crossing Smithville Highway has succumbed to his injuries.

Aeden McLean died early Friday morning at Vanderbilt Medical Center, according to McMinnville Police Department.

McLean was airlifted to Vanderbilt following the Sept. 27 accident.

The incident took place around 8:30 p.m. on Smithville Highway in front of Cumberland Plaza Shopping Center. According to McMinnville Police Chief Bryan Denton, the teen was attempting to cross the road from McDonald’s to the Lowe’s shopping center.

As the teen reached the turning lane into Lowe’s, he was struck by a Chevy Cruze driven by Destiny St. Claire, 30. Denton said St. Claire was traveling northbound, toward Smithville, when the collision with McLean took place.

“The driver showed no signs of impairment at the scene,” said Denton.
