McMinnville officials have approved an event by Junior Auxiliary of McMinnville called “Sip and Saveur: Tasting and Art Showcase” scheduled for Sept. 27 in historic downtown.“The event will showcase the work of local artists and the businesses downtown will be invited to participate by hosting an artist and providing a beverage and/ or hors d’oeuvres tasting for patrons inside their establishment,” said Junior Auxiliary member Emily Stefanick in a letter request to the city.Board members unanimously approved the event. Voting in favor were Mayor Jimmy Haley, Vice Mayor Ben Newman and Aldermen Mike Neal, Ken Smith, Jimmy Bonner, Rick Barnes and Billy Wood. What officials approved were the street closures needed to hold the event. Scheduled for Sept. 27 from 5-8 p.m., the streets that would need to be closed include West Court Square, Depot Street, North Spring Street and East Main Street beginning at the intersection beside Magness Library and ending where Main Street connects to Spring Street.“In order to visibly mark the required street closures, barricades need to be placed at all points of entrance to the streets,” said Stefanick.
