Sunday-morning wreck claims life

A fatal wreck occurred early Sunday morning claiming the life of one person.

According to the McMinnville Fire Department, at approximately 12:20 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 14 first responders were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash with entrapment at the intersection of Hwy 70 Bypass and Mullican Street. The accident involved two vehicles. Both vehicles had victims entrapped.

Firefighters had to use the “jaws of life” to remove four people from the vehicles. One person was reportedly pronounced dead at the scene. Two of the victims were transported by helicopter to trauma centers. One victim was transported to Ascension Saint Thomas River Park Hospital by Warren County EMS.

The wreck was worked by MFD Ladder Two, Engine Eight and Truck One. Numerous Warren County EMS units responded along with McMinnville Police Department units, Warren County Sheriff's deputies, Tennessee Highway Patrol Troopers, Air-Evac 44 and LifeForce Medical Helicopters.

The identity of the drivers are currently unreleased. The Southern Standard attempted to contact Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Josh Cunningham and the Tennessee Highway Patrol headquarters and were unsuccessful at time of print. More information on this wreck will be released as it becomes available.
