Stealing gas for Mercedes proves costly

A man caught stealing gas for his Mercedes will serve a year in jail.The gas stealer, Adam Cope, 29, entered guilty pleas to charges of burglary and theft and was ordered to serve 365 days of a four-year sentence. He must make restitution in the amount of $1,120. His girlfriend, Beth Ann Damon, 22, who was with him at the time of the crime, is docketed to appear in court Feb. 8.Cope and Damon were seen entering a building at Morrison Tank and Vault by a night watchman who witnessed them stealing gas.“They were seen entering a building and then turned on the pumps to get some fuel,” said sheriff’s investigator Jody Cavanaugh in his warrant against the pair.
