KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Tennessee Valley Authority says it will be opening visitor centers on the reservations of its tallest dam, its first dam, and its longest dam on April 2.

The TVA said Thursday that the visitor center at its tallest dam, Fontana, which towers 480 feet and forms part of the Appalachian Trail near Bryson City, North Carolina, will be open through October.

The visitor center at Norris Dam, completed in 1936 as the TVA's first dam, will be open through November. It is located near Knoxville.

The center at Kentucky Dam, the longest dam in the TVA system at more than 8,800 feet, also will be open through November. Kentucky Dam is located off U.S. Highway 62 east coming from Paducah, Kentucky, or west from Clarksville, Tennessee.
