DYERSBURG, Tenn. (AP) — A Tennessee man has been indicted on multiple charges in a shooting at a toddler's birthday party that left a mother dead.
The Jackson Sun reports (http://bit.ly/2lQdGkt) a Dyer County grand jury on Monday indicted Torius Russell of Ripley on charges of first-degree murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault and reckless endangerment in the Nov. 16 shooting that killed 21-year-old Shanice Amerson. She was the mother of the 2-year-old whose birthday was being celebrated.
Police say Ripley showed up at the party and opened fire. Eight people were injured including two boys, ages 6 and 12.
Authorities said Russell had been at the residence earlier in the day in a disturbance reported to police.
He's scheduled to appear in court Tuesday. Online jail records do not list an attorney for Russell.
