HIXSON, Tenn. (AP) — Police are searching for two men in connection with the stabbing death of a 36-year-old Army veteran during a bar fight outside of Chattanooga.
News outlets report that Shawn Russell was stabbed during a brawl at a Hixson bar early Tuesday.
Chattanooga police Lt. Glenn Scruggs says authorities have identified two men who were involved in the stabbing, but he declined to release their names.
Scruggs says video surveillance shows Russell wielding a pool cue during the fight.
An Army spokeswoman says Russell served with the U.S. Army Reserve, the Army and the Tennessee Army National Guard, last serving in 2008. He was deployed to Kuwait and Iraq for three months in 2003, and was awarded a National Defense Service Medal and an Army Service Ribbon.
