NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — State Rep. Karen Camper is headed to Washington to attend a gun violence prevention forum at the White House.

The Memphis Democrat is scheduled to join a round table discussion on Wednesday about how to fight gun violence in advance of upcoming state legislation sessions around the country.

Camper sponsored a bill that went into law this year that requires the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation to inform any agency that entered an order of protection into the National Crime Information Center within one day if the subject of the order trying to buy a firearm.

Camper joins fellow lawmakers, federal officials and members of community organizations at the meeting. Camper says she's "honored to a part of the discussion on this important topic and by the invitation by President Obama's administration."
