A single-vehicle accident early Sunday morning claimed the life of a McMinnville native.

Darrell Lamont Grayson, 52, was killed in a crash on I-24 between Manchester and Murfreesboro just after midnight Sunday morning. According to a preliminary crash report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Grayson was traveling west on the interstate and was near the 100 mile marker when he ran off the left side of the road in his 2024 Infiniti QX8.

According to the report, Grayson’s vehicle struck a guard rail and an earth embankment before going airborne, eventually coming to rest just off Cheatham Springs Rd.

The report stated Grayson was not wearing his seat belt.

Hellum Funeral Home in Murfreesboro is in charge of arrangements.
